Kink Craft

May saw not only the launch for the Kink Craft website, but it was also our introduction to the community by attending our first couple of events. Our first one was Bedford Peer Rope, which you can read about here, and the following week, we made our way to the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar as vendors, rather than viewers.

Life is certainly different on the other side of the table and we have a lot more appreciation for the work that goes into not only attending such an event but the setup and organisation of it. Dave was fantastic and made sure we were settled in okay and had everything we needed. He checked back on us during the event and made us feel extremely at home. We didn’t get much of a chance to get to know the other vendors as it was all work from the moment we walked in but our ‘neighbours’ from Sequin Show Stoppers kept us smiling and laughing and even managed to dress Andrew in one of their sparkly bras and Pixie in a feathered showgirl headdress.Andrew in his sparkly bra

There were of course nerves when the doors opened. When you have a new idea you are passionate about it is a little nerve wracking to wonder how it will be taken when you unveil it to others. Our nerves were soon put aside, though, by the wonderful comments and feedback we received from those who managed to find us hidden away in a corner (usually Pixie’s favourite place!).

We loved that people stopped and had a chat and were happy to give us feedback and offer suggestions. It was exactly what we wanted.

We can come up with hundreds of things we can show people how to make but we really want to know what people want to be able to make themselves. One of the suggestions we were given was to add an automatic calculation for making the cuffs so people didn’t have to work it out from the formula unless they wanted to. We thought this was a brilliant suggestion and don’t know why we didn’t think of it, but it is now on the list of future improvements. So a big thank you to the person who suggested that!

Look out for us at the June BBB on the 21st as we are aiming to be there with lollipops again for anyone who pops by, and we’ll be running another competition with free entry to win one of our kits and the course to go with it. If you are at the event come say hello, have a look at some of our new items and let us know what you would be interested in learning how to make. We would love to know.

See you there!
